Board of Supervisors
Board Information and Responsibilities
The Board meets the second Monday of the month at 6:30 pm at the Township Building at 73 S. Zinns Mill Road.
The township is governed by three elected supervisors. Supervisors are elected from the Township to a six year term. The Board of Supervisors appoints the members of the various advisory boards.
A board of supervisors is the primary elected governing body for counties or townships. Acting as a combination of a city council and a business manager, they oversee public services, manage budgets, enact local laws, and address community issues like zoning and public health.
- Executive Duties: They propose and approve the annual budget, set local tax rates, and appoint key township officials. They also oversee major public services like road maintenance, parks, and libraries.
- Legislative Duties: They create and pass local ordinances, resolutions, and policies to protect the health, safety, and welfare of residents.
- Quasi-Judicial Duties: They hear public appeals and make final decisions on land use, zoning changes, and disposition of claims made against the township.
